We were assigned to create something lowpoly and use a camera rig based on concepts and moodboards/sketches we created beforehand.

I chose to create a sci-fi desert environment with a floating sphere next to a cave filled with glowing crystals and some weird floating cube opening a portal to... something?

After Effects was used to crank up the glow, fiddle with color and intensify the volumetric lighting inside the sphere.
